The Wandering Oak is a mythic epic fantasy set in the starving highlands of the Daneburg Mountains. Izra Moonborn, a northern chieftain's daughter is a political prize, until a visiting soothsayer’s touch turns the hall cold with one verdict: she’s pregnant. The accusation detonates Izra’s life: she is punished, labeled a “witch,” and left to freeze in the pillory as her own people prepare to put her to the torch. Serth Treefoot, a hardened thane loyal to her grandfather, spirits her away from injustice, and Izra rides into the wilderness with nothing but borrowed warmth and borrowed time. Her flight becomes something stranger than escape when animals begin to recognize her, and she finds refuge with “Lady Bear,” a bear-being who speaks of primordial powers and hints that Izra carries the scent of something ancient. Reaching the filthy, thriving sprawl of Mead Town, Izra cuts her hair, binds her body, darkens her looks, and vanishes into a new name, Aez working stables by day while war and rumor funnel killers ever closer. When Melkin the Morg finally corners her, Izra’s terror ignites into a force she barely understands, and she fights back with a ferocity that reshapes her from prey to survivor. With blood on her hands and freedom in her sights, she seeks the soothsayer who started it all, only to hear the impossible: her child will grow in her womb far longer than that which is normal, and her journey will stretch beyond a single lifetime. She will trade youth and strength for a mind that may not keep pace with eternity. As dawn breaks on a world that no longer contains “home,” Izra touches her belly, turns toward the sea, and steps into legend.
